Bollywood superstar Salman Khan on Monday announced that his upcoming film ‘Battle of Galwan’ has been retitled as ‘Maatrubhumi’. The actor shared the update about the title change, adding a new dimension to one of the most anticipated films currently in production.
According to a PTI report, the film is based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between India and China, an incident that drew widespread national attention and remains a significant chapter in recent military history. With its subject rooted in real events, the project has generated considerable interest among audiences ever since it was announced.
The film is being directed by Apoorva Lakhia, known for films such as Shootout at Lokhandwala. While announcing the new title, Salman Khan did not reveal the reason behind the sudden change in the film’s name.
Along with the new title, the film now carries the tagline “May War Rest In Peace.” The phrase appears to reflect the emotional and patriotic tone of the story, which centres on the sacrifices and resilience of soldiers involved in the Galwan Valley conflict.
Industry observers believe the title ‘Maatrubhumi’ may also be inspired by the film’s first track of the same name. The song, reportedly performed by celebrated singer Arijit Singh, is expected to capture the patriotic spirit and emotional core of the film.
With Salman Khan leading the project and the story drawing from a real-life conflict that captured the nation’s attention, ‘Maatrubhumi’ is expected to be one of the most closely watched releases once it hits theatres.
