Aparna Purohit, the Head of Originals for India and Southeast Asia at Prime Video, has officially left the streaming platform, The Deadline reported.
Aparna joined Amazon in January 2016, her departure coincides with her reported move to Aamir Khan Productions as CEO, as indicated by local reports. Although awaiting official confirmation from both Purohit and Aamir Khan’s representatives, her exit marks the end of an era at Prime Video.
Local reports are now speculating on the potential appointment of Nikhil Madhok, currently Head of Original Hindi Content, as her successor. However, the possibility of an external candidate taking up the role has not been ruled out.
Expressing gratitude for Purohit’s contributions, a Prime Video spokesperson highlighted her instrumental role in curating beloved Amazon Originals tailored for the Indian audience. Purohit’s dedication to fostering diverse narratives and talent, both in front of and behind the camera, significantly impacted Prime Video’s local Original content landscape.
