India Today Group’s groundbreaking AI news anchor, Sana, has won the prestigious International News Media Association (INMA) 2024 Global Media Award for spearheading AI-led newsroom transformation.
The India Today Group emerged as the top contender in South Asia for its pioneering ‘AI-led newsroom transformation,’ with Sana claiming the top spot among national brands for ‘best use of AI in customer-facing products,’ the news channel said in a statement.
INMA’s executive director and CEO, Earl J Wilkinson, emphasized the imperative for news media companies to innovate beyond tradition in engaging readers amidst disruptions and news avoidance trends.
Launched in March 2023, Sana has swiftly garnered accolades for her versatility in multilingual communication and seamless adaptation to diverse topics and formats, all without fatigue.
India Today Group‘s spokesperson hailed Sana’s role in driving audience engagement and content differentiation, cementing her status as a revolutionary force in the media landscape.
The 2024 Global Media Awards witnessed fierce competition among 771 multi-platform entries from 245 leading news media brands across 43 countries, spanning various categories including AI and newsroom innovation.
The grand ceremony took place at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, celebrating innovation and excellence in the global media industry.
