Meta, formerly Facebook, unveiled a new feature called ‘nighttime nudges’ on Thursday.
The feature aims to remind teens when they’ve spent more than 10 minutes on Instagram late at night, emphasizing the importance of sleep for young individuals, IANS reported.
In a blog post, Meta explained, “Sleep is important, particularly for young people, so we’re launching new nighttime nudges that will show up when teens have spent more than 10 minutes on Instagram in places like Reels or Direct Messages late at night. They’ll remind teens that it’s late, and encourage them to close the app.”
Alongside this initiative, Meta also announced a commitment to hide additional forms of age-inappropriate content for teens on both Instagram and Facebook, aligning with expert recommendations.
The company stated that it will automatically apply the most restrictive content control setting to teens, extending this measure to those already using the platforms.
This move reflects Meta’s ongoing efforts to prioritize the well-being of young users and implement features that encourage responsible social media usage.
The introduction of ‘nighttime nudges’ and enhanced content controls underscores the company’s commitment to creating a safer and more mindful digital environment for teenagers.
