Google’s state-of-the-art AI model, Gemini, has encountered a setback, according to a report by The Information.
Originally slated for release sooner, the debut of Gemini has now been rescheduled to early 2024 due to complications in managing non-English prompts, sources close to the development have disclosed, IANS reported.
This delay comes as a result of technical hurdles related to handling prompts in languages other than English, a crucial aspect of global usability. The Information’s report suggests that these issues have prompted Google to push back the unveiling of Gemini, intending to ensure a more comprehensive and effective launch.
Despite being unreleased, Gemini has been the subject of widespread speculation, largely attributed to its purported unparalleled capabilities in text and image generation. The AI’s rumored prowess in these domains has fueled anticipation among tech enthusiasts and industries reliant on advanced AI technologies.
This delay, while disappointing for those awaiting Gemini’s arrival, underscores Google‘s commitment to resolving critical issues before introducing such a highly-anticipated AI model to the public.
The extended timeline to early 2024 is expected to provide Google with the necessary time to address these challenges comprehensively, ensuring a more seamless and functional launch for Gemini shortly.
