COLORS, one of India’s leading Hindi general entertainment channels, has launched a new social drama titled ‘Doree’.
The show, which premiered on November 6, 2023, sheds light on the critical issue of girl-child abandonment in India.
‘Doree’ tells the story of a six-year-old girl named Doree who is abandoned at birth but finds a loving home with her foster father, Ganga Prasad. However, Doree’s life is turned upside down when she crosses paths with Kailashi Devi Thakur, the ruler of Varanasi’s handloom empire who deems daughters as unworthy.
The show stars Sudhaa Chandran as Kailashi Devi Thakur, Amar Upadhyay as Ganga Prasad, and Mahi Bhanushali as Doree.
It is produced by Jay and Kinnari Mehtaa’s Jay Mehtaa Productions.
In addition to its compelling narrative, ‘Doree’ is also notable for its innovative marketing campaign.
To shed light on the persisting issue of girl child abandonment in our society, COLORS has launched a campaign revealing shocking facts and real-life instances of girl child abandonment. The channel is also working with public figures and influencers to spread awareness about the issue.
‘Doree’ is a timely and important show that highlights a critical social issue. It is a must-watch for anyone who wants to make a difference in the world.
