Google is adding new features to Meet’s picture-in-picture mode in Chrome.

“We’re updating the Google Meet picture-in-picture experience to be more engaging and feature-rich,” the tech giant said on Wednesday in a Workspace Updates blog post.

Users can now raise their hands, turn captions on and off, access flexible layouts, and more directly from the picture-in-picture window.

Previously, users could only turn their camera or microphone on and off, as well as leave the meeting, from the picture-in-picture window, IANS reported from San Francisco.

“Our new picture-in-picture experience provides greater flexibility when screen sharing or navigating to a relevant screen for a more dynamic experience,” according to the company.

The updated picture-in-picture mode is now available to all Google Workspace customers and personal Google Account users.

Meanwhile, Google began rolling out a new viewer mode in its video communication service last week, allowing users to select “Everyone is a viewer” when creating a Calendar invite.

Designating attendees as “viewers” when using Google Meet for large meetings will help reduce potential meeting distractions, such as audio disruptions.
