‘Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre’, the latest film by British filmmaker Guy Ritchie, will be released on Lionsgate Play on May 5, the streaming service announced yesterday.
According to a press release, the spy thriller stars Jason Statham, Hugh Grant, Aubrey Plaza, and Bugzy Malone.
The plot revolves around a spy, Orson Fortune (Statham), who is tasked with recovering a stolen high-tech device before an arms dealer (Grant) sells it to the highest bidder, PTI reported from New Delhi.
“We had the idea to make a spy film about eight months before production began. We watched every action and spy film we could get our hands on in preparation. I didn’t like our first premise, so I started over. I knew what the tone of the movie would be after I wrote a new scene, which now opens our story, and I liked it,” Ritchie said in a statement.
Producer and co-screenwriter Ivan Atkinson stated that the team wanted to do something different in the spy thriller genre.
“Most spy films fall into one of two categories: spoof or take themselves very seriously. We wanted to find a happy medium,” he added.
