Streaming platform Disney+, on Thursday, announced the second season of the critically acclaimed animated series ‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch’, which will premiere in 2022.
As per the company’s press release, the series follows the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in ‘The Clone Wars’) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War. Members of Bad Batch – a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army – each possess a singular exceptional skill which makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew. In the post-Clone War era, they will take on daring mercenary missions as they struggle to stay afloat and find a new purpose.
On the announcement of season 2, a senior executive of Disney+ and ESPN+, said, “Fans have enthusiastically embraced the action and drama of ‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch’ and we are excited to see the Star Wars animated universe continue to expand on Disney+.”
He also added, “As the dedicated streaming home for the Star War franchise, we can’t wait for the second season of this fan-favorite animated series.”
On the renewal announcement, executive producer Dave Filoni, said, “The entire Lucasfilm Animation team and I would like to thank Disney+ and our fans for the opportunity to continue telling the story of the Bad Batch.”
