The jail doors are set to open once again as Netflix has announced the return of ‘Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa’ with its second season. Following a much-discussed first season, the homegrown reality format is set to return with a fresh set of inmates, new secrets and a new game.

Produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Manisha Sharma and showrun by Malaya Pradhan, the upcoming season will once again take audiences inside the jail, where personalities will clash, relationships will evolve and unexpected revelations could change the course of the game.

In a statement, Netflix said the first season of ‘Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa’ emerged as a widely discussed reality show, with moments from the series generating more than 5 billion views across social media and word of mouth.

The format brought together celebrity contestants and placed their personal stories, perceptions and experiences at the centre of the competition. Confessions, confrontations, unexpected relationships and emotional moments became talking points among viewers throughout the season.

The show also explored how contestants navigated the pressures of captivity and competition while dealing with the narratives and perceptions surrounding their lives.

Season 2 will build on the established world of ‘Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa’, bringing another chapter filled with new personalities, changing dynamics, challenges and secrets. While the identities of the new inmates remain under wraps, the makers have confirmed that Riteish Deshmukh and Farah Khan will continue as the jailer duo.

Monika Shergill, VP – Content, Netflix India, said ‘Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa’ quickly became appointment viewing, with audiences investing in the contestants and continuing conversations around the show. She also highlighted the format’s ability to create a space where celebrities could discuss subjects they rarely address publicly.

Ekta Kapoor, Joint Managing Director of Balaji Telefilms and creator of ‘Lock Upp’, said the show’s conversations, inmates and memorable moments continued to stay with audiences even after the finale.

She added that the second season will introduce a new set of stories, personalities and surprises, while Riteish Deshmukh and Farah Khan return as the jailer duo.
