Football star Lionel Messi is set to make his final appearance for Argentina in a friendly match against Benin. The match will be streamed live on ZEE5 for viewers in India on October 7.
The Argentina vs. Benin match will be played at Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires on October 6. Due to the time difference, Indian viewers will be able to watch the match in the early hours of October 7.
According to a ZEE5 press release, the match will mark Messi’s final appearance in the Argentina jersey after more than 20 years with the national team. Fans will get a chance to watch the closing chapter of his international career live.
Messi’s Argentina career includes major achievements such as winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the Copa América titles in 2021 and 2024. The Argentine Football Association has confirmed the Benin friendly as a farewell match for the star forward.
Bavesh Janavlekar, Chief Business Officer, Unite8 Sports, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., said Messi’s farewell is a special moment for football fans across generations.
He added that ZEE5 aims to bring major global sporting events closer to Indian audiences.
The match is part of ZEE5’s football offering, which also includes FIFA tournaments, Bundesliga, Italian Serie A, Supercoppa Italiana and Coppa Italia.
