Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem is set to star in HBO’s upcoming drama series ‘The Spread’. HBO has ordered the new original series, with Bardem also serving as an executive producer.
According to PTI, citing the entertainment news outlet Deadline, ‘The Spread’ will be set in Miami and will focus on the world of Wall Street, hedge funds, wealth and competition. The story follows a billionaire who brings together talented and ambitious people and uses their skills to influence the financial markets.
The series will explore the billionaire’s plan to make Miami a major centre of financial power. The story will also look at the ambitions and competition surrounding the people working in this high-stakes world.
Matthew Vaughn, known for films such as ‘Kingsman’, will direct and executive produce the series. Bill Dubuque, who co-created ‘Ozark’, and Sean Sansiveri will write and executive produce the show.
Bardem will also serve as an executive producer along with Brad Weston for Makeready. Ian Stratford and Michael Bloom will executive produce for Topic Studios. The series is being produced in partnership with FIFTH SEASON TV Studio.
HBO has not yet announced the premiere date or full cast details for ‘The Spread’. The series will mark Bardem’s latest television project following his recent work in the Apple TV+ series ‘Cape Fear’.
