Netflix will roll out three romance-led anime offerings in October, led by the second seasons of ‘The Ramparts of Ice’ and ‘Blue Box’, along with special episodes of ‘My Happy Marriage’.

The lineup, according to a Netflix statement yesterday, will span slow-burn teenage romance, changing relationships between housemates and a fairytale-style marriage story, with the first premiere scheduled for October 1.

‘The Ramparts of Ice Season 2’ will premiere on Netflix on October 1 Pacific Time and October 2 Japan Standard Time, with new episodes releasing weekly.

Based on Kocha Agasawa’s manga, the series follows Koyuki Hikawa, a high schooler who keeps people at a distance, and Minato Amamiya, whose persistent presence changes her life.

The new season tracks their friendship as it moves towards romance, while Yota finally confesses his long-held feelings to Miki.

Directed by MANQ and animated by STUDIO KAI, ‘The Ramparts of Ice’ stars Anna Nagase, Fuka Izumi, Shoya Chiba and Satoshi Inomata.

Netflix described the story as a coming-of-age ensemble drama driven by relationships that repeatedly cross and miss each other, as some characters express their feelings while others suppress them.

‘Blue Box Season 2’ will premiere on October 4, with new episodes weekly. The series follows Taiki Inomata of Eimei High’s boys badminton team and Chinatsu Kano, a basketball player one year senior to him.

Their relationship changes after Chinatsu moves into Taiki’s household, combining a developing romance with their pursuit of sporting ambitions.

The new season introduces Yumeka, whose arrival creates trouble for Taiki and Chinatsu and takes both their story and emotions in an unexpected direction.

Shoya Chiba and Reina Ueda return to the cast, with Daisuke Sakou directing and Electric Circus providing the animation.

Special episodes of ‘My Happy Marriage’ Season 2 will premiere on October 25. Set in Japan’s Taisho era, the series centres on Miyo Saimori, who is mistreated by her family because she was born without supernatural powers.

After meeting her powerful husband-to-be, Kiyoka Kudo, she begins discovering her true self and hidden strength. The series stars Reina Ueda and Kaito Ishikawa, and is directed by Takehiro Kubota with animation by Kinema Citrus.
