Netflix has renewed its popular political drama series ‘The Diplomat’ for a fifth season, shortly after the release of Season 4 on the streaming platform.
According to an official announcement by Netflix yesterday, the series stars Keri Russell as Kate Wyler, a US ambassador to the UK who faces international political challenges while dealing with problems in her personal life. The cast also includes Rufus Sewell as Hal Wyler, Allison Janney as President Grace Penn and Bradley Whitford as Todd Penn.
Season 4 ended with a major twist at the G7 summit, where Kate Wyler took a strong stand after President Grace Penn made a shocking announcement. Vice President Hal Wyler also supported Kate, leaving the story open for more political drama in the next season.
Created by Debora Cahn, ‘The Diplomat’ first premiered in 2023. Netflix has not yet announced the release date or further details about Season 5.
According to Netflix, all four seasons of the series have received more than 130 million views since its debut. The show has also featured in the Top 10 list in 87 countries.
