Sony Pictures Networks India has appointed Amit Mehta as its new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), effective October 1, 2026. According to a SPNI press release from Mumbai today, he will succeed Manu Wadhwa and join the company’s Senior Management Team.
In his new role, Amit will lead SPNI’s People & Organisation function, along with Administration & Facilities. He will work with the CEO and Senior Management Team on talent and succession planning, leadership development, company culture, employee experience and organisational effectiveness.
Amit brings more than 16 years of experience working with CEOs and business leaders on growth, transformation and organisational effectiveness. He joins SPNI from upGrad, where he served as Chief Human Resources Officer and led the people function.
At upGrad, Amit was responsible for leadership effectiveness, organisational capability and transformation. Before joining upGrad, he spent more than 14 years with Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL).
At HUL, Amit held leadership roles across talent and leadership development, employer brand, organisation design and business HR for Sales, Marketing and Digital Commerce. His most recent role was HR Head Home Care & Leadership Development, South Asia.

SPNI Managing Director and CEO Gaurav Banerjee welcomed Amit to the company and said his experience across an established organisation and a high-growth, founder led company will be valuable as SPNI moves into its next phase. He also said that strengthening leadership capabilities, culture and employee experience will be important for the company’s growth.
Banerjee also thanked Manu Wadhwa for her leadership as CHRO and said he looks forward to her continued contribution to SPNI as Strategy Advisor.
Amit is an alumnus of XLRI Jamshedpur. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Information Technology from VJTI Mumbai.
