Bangla ZEE5 will premiere filmmaker Srijit Mukherji’s biographical drama ‘Padatik’ on August 28, 2026. According to a ZEE5 press release from Kolkata yesterday, the film is based on the life and journey of legendary filmmaker Mrinal Sen, one of the most influential figures of Indian parallel cinema.
‘Padatik’ explores different phases of Mrinal Sen’s life, including his early years, creative journey and contribution to Indian cinema. The film also explores the person behind the celebrated filmmaker.
Chanchal Chowdhury plays Mrinal Sen, while Monami Ghosh portrays his wife, Geeta Sen. Korak Samanta plays the younger Mrinal Sen.
Directed by Srijit Mukherji, the film brings together history, cinema and human emotion while highlighting Mrinal Sen’s artistic journey and cinematic legacy.
