Indian Esports teams Orangutan and GodLike Esports have made history by becoming the first Indian teams to qualify for the PUBG Mobile World Cup (PMWC) Grand Finals at the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026.

According to an Esports World Cup Foundation press release today from Paris,Orangutan finished second in Group A with 91 points, while GodLike Esports secured third place in Group B with 105 points.

The PMWC Grand Finals will be held from August 14 to 16, with the two teams competing for the title and a share of the $3 million (around Rs 28.5 crore) prize pool.

Elsewhere, Kuaishou Gaming won the Honor of Kings World Cup after defeating defending champions AG. AL 4-3 in the Grand Final.

Kuaishou Gaming had earlier gone unbeaten through the group stage and playoffs. He ‘JuHao’ Weijia was named the SONY MVP and received an additional $25,000 (around Rs 23.8 lakh).

In TEKKEN 8, AG. AL’s M. Zubair completed an impressive run after entering the competition through the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ). He defeated Pakistan’s Arslan ‘Arslan Ash’ Siddique twice before beating Yoon ‘LowHigh’ Sun-woong 5-0 in the Grand Final.

Zubair won $250,000 (around Rs 2.3 crore) and an additional $50,000 (around Rs 47.6 lakh) for the Jafonso Award. He also earned 1,000 Club Championship points for AG. AL.

OpTic Gaming retained their EWC title in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 after defeating Team Heretics 5-3 in the Grand Final. OpTic won $600,000, while Anthony ‘Shotzzy’ Cuevas-Castro was named SONY MVP for the second consecutive year.

In Rainbow Six Siege, the final eight teams have been confirmed for the playoffs. Defending champions Team Secret advanced after defeating Team Falcons 2-0, while Falcons were eliminated from the competition.

The weekend also brought a change at the top of the EWC Club Championship standings. AG .AL moved into first place with 3,350 points after finishing second in Honor of Kings and winning TEKKEN 8. Team Falcons are second with 2,900 points, followed by Natus Vincere with 2,250 points. Team Vitality and Virtus. pro are joint fourth with 2,200 points each.
