Universal Pictures has announced that ‘Snoop’, a biographical film based on the life of rapper, actor and entrepreneur Snoop Dogg, will release in theatres across the US on August 6, 2027.
The film is directed by Craig Brewer, best known for ‘Hustle & Flow’ and ‘Coming 2 America‘. Brewer also rewrote the screenplay, which was originally written by Joe Robert Cole.
Actor Jonathan Daviss, known for the Netflix series ‘Outer Banks’, will play the lead role of Snoop Dogg in the film. According to a PTI report from LOS ANGELS today, ‘Snoop’ has taken the release date that was previously reserved for an untitled Universal event film.
The biopic will chronicle the life and career of Snoop Dogg, who rose to fame in the 1990s and went on to become one of the most influential figures in hip-hop. Over the years, he has also built a successful career as an actor, producer and entrepreneur. Further details about the film’s storyline and supporting cast are yet to be announced
