Adani Navbharat Developers Private Limited (ANDPL), the special purpose vehicle leading the Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP), has launched ‘Dharavi Didi’, an AI-powered virtual assistant to help Dharavi residents access verified information about the redevelopment project.
According to an ANDPL press release from Mumbai today, the AI companion has been introduced to reduce confusion caused by rumours and misinformation and give nearly one million Dharavikars quick access to official project updates.
Available 24×7 through video calls, voice calls and WhatsApp chat, ‘Dharavi Didi’ can answer questions related to surveys, eligibility, required documents, rehabilitation procedures and other project-related updates. It currently supports Hindi, Marathi and English, while Tamil, Telugu and Gujarati will be added in future.
The platform has been developed in partnership with YAAP Digital, with Weya AI as the technology partner. It uses conversational AI and multilingual support to provide residents with accurate, consistent and easy-to-understand information.
Ajay Kakar, Head of Corporate Branding at Adani Group, said the initiative shows how artificial intelligence can be used to build trust by providing transparent, reliable and accessible communication. He added that ‘Dharavi Didi’ is designed to bridge the gap between the project authorities and residents through verified information.
An ANDPL spokesperson said the AI assistant extends the company’s on-ground support by allowing residents to get official information anytime, in their preferred language, without waiting for in-person assistance.
‘Dharavi Didi’ is part of its broader effort to improve communication and transparency during the redevelopment process. The platform will continue to add new features, services and language options as the project progresses.
