Walking Dinosaurs

More than two decades after it first captivated audiences around the world, the iconic documentary franchise ‘Walking With Dinosaurs’ is making its return with a brand-new reimagined series. The six-part factual series will premiere on BBC Player India on July 3, bringing viewers face-to-face with some of the most fascinating creatures ever to roam the Earth.

According to a press release by BBC Player India, the new series revisits the prehistoric world through the lens of modern science and cutting-edge visual storytelling. Combining real-life fossil discoveries with advanced visual effects, the show aims to offer audiences a more accurate and immersive look at dinosaur life than ever before.

The series follows leading palaeontologists as they excavate dinosaur remains from sites across the globe. Each discovery serves as the starting point for a story that reconstructs pivotal moments from the lives of prehistoric giants. Through these findings, viewers will witness dramatic journeys, survival battles and behavioural insights that have been pieced together from the latest scientific evidence.

Among the stories featured in the series is a young Triceratops facing off against a hungry Tyrannosaurus rex, a Spinosaurus—the largest carnivorous dinosaur known to have lived—navigating the waterways of ancient Morocco, and a giant Lusotitan in Portugal embarking on a risky quest driven by survival and companionship.

As dinosaur fossils are uncovered and analysed, the series uses state-of-the-art visual effects to recreate ancient ecosystems and bring long-extinct species back to life on screen. The result is a blend of science, storytelling and cinematic visuals designed to transport audiences millions of years into the past.

The series is narrated by Bertie Carvel, known for his acclaimed performances in The Crown and Doctor Foster. His narration guides viewers through a world filled with danger, discovery and extraordinary creatures that once dominated the planet.

First launched more than 25 years ago, ‘Walking With Dinosaurs’ became one of the BBC’s most successful factual programmes, earning global recognition for its groundbreaking approach to natural history storytelling. The new series builds on that legacy while incorporating significant advances in palaeontology and digital technology.

‘Walking With Dinosaurs’ will be available to stream on BBC Player India from July 3 through Amazon Prime Video and Tata Play Binge. BBC Player is also offering a limited-period promotional subscription through Amazon Prime Video add-on channels, allowing viewers to access the service at a discounted annual rate until July 3.

With a blend of scientific discovery, visual spectacle and compelling storytelling, the return of ‘Walking With Dinosaurs’ promises to introduce a new generation of viewers to the wonders of the prehistoric world while reigniting nostalgia among longtime fans of the franchise.
