ZEE5 has announced the onboarding of Indian football legend Sunil Chhetri as part of its expert panel for the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026. The move is aimed at strengthening the platform’s football coverage and offering viewers expert insights from one of India’s most celebrated footballers.
According to a ZEE5 press release yesterday, Chhetri will feature as a pre- match expert, sharing his analysis on key fixtures, tactical battles, standout performers and major moments from the tournament. His inclusion adds significant footballing experience to ZEE5’s World Cup coverage.
Widely regarded as the face of Indian football, Chhetri is the country’s all- time leading goalscorer and most capped men’s footballer. With 95 international goals, he ranks among the highest goalscorers in the history of men’s international football and has played a key role in raising the profile of the sport in India.
Chhetri said he is excited to be part of the platform’s FIFA World Cup coverage and looks forward to sharing his insights with football fans. He highlighted that every world cup creates unforgettable moments and provides a stage for both established stars and emerging talents to shine.
Chhetri joins an expert panel that includes former India captain Bhaichung Bhutia, goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu and former India head coach Igor Stimac, among others.
