Amazon MX Player’s latest original series ‘Made in India: A Titan Story’ has garnered widespread acclaim since its launch, and has now achieved a rare distinction by becoming the first streaming series in India to be recognised by the Department of Posts with a commemorative Special Envelope (Cover) and a postcard.

The six-episode period drama, inspired by the origins of Titan Watches, chronicles the journey of creating India’s first indigenous watch brand in 1984. The series follows the vision of industrialist J. R. D. Tata and watch industry pioneer Xerxes Desai as they sought to establish a homegrown watchmaking enterprise, the Amazon MX Player said in a press release.

Featuring Naseeruddin Shah as J.R.D. Tata and Jim Sarbh as Xerxes Desai, alongside Vaibhav Tatwawadi, Lakshvir Saran and Namita Dubey, the series has resonated strongly with audiences and industry observers for its portrayal of innovation, entrepreneurship and nation-building.

In a first-of-its-kind recognition for an Indian streaming title, the Department of Posts issued an exclusive ‘Made in India: A Titan Story’ commemorative envelope and postcard, acknowledging the show’s cultural and historical significance. The series had earlier also received a tribute from the iconic dairy brand Amul through a special topical creative carrying the tagline, “Made in India: A Bitin’ Story.”

Amazon MX Player said the recognition reflects the impact of a story that celebrates India’s entrepreneurial spirit and manufacturing ambitions. The platform noted that the series aligns with its commitment to delivering premium, free-to-stream content across multiple devices and platforms.

Commenting on the response to the show, Amogh Dusad, Director and Head of Content at Amazon MX Player, said the series captures India’s spirit of building and innovation, adding that audience appreciation for the story has been immensely gratifying.

Actor Jim Sarbh said the enthusiastic reception demonstrates how audiences have connected with the story of Titan’s creation and the people behind its success. Naseeruddin Shah noted that viewers have responded not only to the narrative but also to the values and vision represented by J.R.D. Tata.

Director Robbie Grewal described the audience response as overwhelming, saying the team always believed they were telling a story that deserved to be remembered.

Based on the book ‘Titan: Inside India’s Most Successful Consumer Brand’ by Vinay Kamath, the series is written by Karan Vyas and directed by Grewal. According to the platform, the show has received praise from filmmakers including Aanand L. Rai, Hansal Mehta, Nikkhil Advani and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, as well as actor Gajraj Rao.

The series has also reported strong early viewership performance, clocking 4.5 million views within five days of its release, according to Ormax data cited by the platform, while maintaining an IMDb rating of 8.8/10.

As part of promotional activities celebrating the show’s success, ‘Made in India: A Titan Story’ was recently showcased through a large-scale outdoor campaign at Mumbai’s iconic Bandra-Worli Sea Link, highlighting the story’s themes of Indian innovation and enterprise.
