ZEE5 is gearing up to unravel a spine-chilling mystery with its upcoming Bengali original mini-series ‘Bibhishan’, slated to premiere on the platform on June 27.
Produced and directed by Raja Chanda, the series stars Soham Majumder and Debchandrima Singh Roy in pivotal roles and promises to take audiences on a gripping psychological journey into a town where nothing is what it seems.
According to a UNI report, the series is set in the quiet yet unsettling town of Birbhum, where the calm exterior barely conceals a brewing storm. Soham Majumder plays sub-inspector Bidhan Sen, a composed, sharp-witted officer grappling with the unraveling threads of his personal life even as his professional world begins to spiral out of control. When a string of strange incidents — a thief with no motive, a headless corpse, and a sudden murder — occur in rapid succession, Sen is forced into a dark maze of secrets, half-truths and buried motives. Each step forward only reveals how dangerously close the threat really is.
Director Chanda, speaking about the project, said, “From the first draft to the last frame, directing ‘Bibhishan’ has been an extremely exciting journey for me. It is a story that starts off quiet but slowly draws you into a world where every character has something to hide. It was a great experience working with ZEE5 on this project – their belief in regional stories and new storytelling helped us bring out this thriller in the form it deserved.”
With regional content steadily gaining popularity among pan-Indian audiences, ‘Bibhishan’ is yet another bold step by ZEE5 in reinforcing its commitment to delivering impactful storytelling across languages.
