Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (Z) has signed a five year deal to broadcast Germany’s top football league, the Bundesliga, in India. The agreement gives Zee the exclusive TV and digital rights to show Bundesliga matches in the country.
According to a Zee Facebook post, the deal will begin with the 2026-27 season. Football fans in India will be able to watch all Bundesliga matches live on ZEE5 and Unite8 Sports channels. The coverage will also include match highlights and special football shows.
With this partnership, Zee is expanding its sports business and adding another major international football tournament to its platform. The company said the move is part of its plan to make more global sports available to Indian viewers.
Bavesh Janavlekar, chief business officer Unite8 Sports at Zee Entertainment, said the Bundesliga is one of the world’s most exciting football leagues. He said Indian fans will get to watch top players like Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala, Michael Olise and Joshua Kimmich throughout the season.
He added that Zee also wants to help football grow in India. As part of the partnership, Zee and the Bundesliga will organise ‘Z x Bundesliga Football Week’, which will include football coaching camps and training programmes for young players across the country.
Peer Naubert, chief commercial officer of Bundesliga Media, said India is an important market for the Bundesliga. He said partnering with Zee will help the league reach millions of football fans and also support the development of the sport at the grassroots level.
Earlier, Zee had announced that it would invest 15 percent of the football related subscription revenue earned from ZEE5 to identify, train and support young football talent in India. The company said the Bundesliga partnership is another step towards building a stronger sports portfolio and bringing more international sporting events to Indian audiences.
