Zee Music Company, a division of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL), announced the renewal of its licensing deal with YouTube and Meta, previously known as Facebook, on Friday.
According to PTI, the agreement with two of the world’s top digital content-streaming firms would allow them to access music content from Zee Music’s repertoire of over 11,000 songs.
As part of the agreement, users will be able to continue to use Zee Music Company’s entire collection to build different social experiences across YouTube as well as Meta platforms like Facebook and Instagram.
“With an increasing number of audiences tuning in to Indian music from around the world,” the company said, “the inclusion of the latest music libraries from India will allow users and YouTube Shorts creators to stay up to date with the latest music trends and styles.”
YouTube is one of the largest digital content platforms, with a massive user base, and the continuous relationship is set to improve the music experience for its viewers.
Furthermore, songs on short format video platforms often get a new lease on life when they are picked up by numerous popular creators, leading to fresh interest and greater appeal, according to the statement.
Zee Music Company’s music collection has already garnered over 290 billion views across its YouTube channels with 130 million plus subscribers. Zee Music Chief Business Officer Anurag Bedi said, “Both platforms have proven to be invaluable partners for us, helping us reach new audiences and connect with fans in new and innovative ways. We look forward to working together to continue delivering high-quality music content to our shared users.”
