In a landmark achievement that reinforces India’s global dominance in digital music, Zee Music Company has crossed the coveted 100 million subscriber mark on YouTube, earning the ultra-exclusive Red Diamond Play Button a recognition awarded only to channels that surpass the rare milestone.
This makes Zee Music Company only the second music label globally to receive this honour, and a torchbearer for Indian music on the world stage.
Launched just over a decade ago, Zee Music has quickly risen to become a cornerstone of India’s entertainment ecosystem. With a catalogue rich in linguistic and cultural diversity, spanning Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi, and other Indian languages, the label has produced viral sensations like ‘Kala Chashma’, ‘Teri Mitti’, ‘Taras’, and ‘Uyi Amma’, songs that have topped charts, sparked trends and become cultural anthems.
Speaking on the milestone, Umesh Kumar Bansal, Chief Business Officer at Zee Music Company and Zee Studios, called it a proud moment for the entire Zee family.
“Crossing 100 million subscribers is a moment of immense pride for all of us and a testament to our deep connection with music lovers worldwide,” he said. “Being only the second music label globally to receive the prestigious Red Diamond Play Button makes this milestone even more special,” he said.
He credited strong content partnerships and a strategic focus on digital innovation, especially with YouTube, for the achievement. “Together, we are building a legacy of music that transcends boundaries and resonates across cultures and generations,” Bansal added.
Sun Lee, Director of YouTube Music for Korea, Greater China, India, and South Asia, echoed the sentiment, lauding Zee Music’s global influence. “This journey to 100 million subscribers is a phenomenal testament to the power of Indian music. Zee Music Company’s consistent delivery of high-quality music has created an incredible cultural resonance worldwide. We are thrilled to be a partner in their remarkable success story,” he added.
As the global appetite for Indian music continues to grow from reels to radio, Zee Music Company’s Red Diamond Play Button is more than just a plaque. It symbolizes a decade of relentless creativity, audience connection, and digital strategy.
