Zee Media, Havas Play, and Namami Gange converge to unveil a remarkable musical celebration titled ‘Ganga Kinare Music Festival.’
Set against the iconic ghats of Varanasi, this event aims to harmonize melodies, cultural heritage, and environmental awareness in a grand spectacle.
Scheduled for Saturday, December 9, 2023, the festival intends to pay homage to Varanasi’s cultural richness while shedding light on the sacred significance of the river Ganga, the channel said in a press release.
More than just a musical extravaganza, ‘Ganga Kinare’ seeks to become a catalyst for change, urging attendees to become stewards of river preservation and fostering a profound bond between festival-goers and the holy waters flowing through Varanasi.
In alignment with the esteemed ‘Namami Gange Programme’ backed by the United Nations, the festival transcends mere entertainment, aspiring to cultivate a dynamic community devoted to championing river preservation.
This initiative is not merely a one-time event but part of a broader mission spanning various cities: Rishikesh (2024), Prayagraj (2025), Patna (2026), and Kolkata (2027).
Abhay Ojha, CEO of Zee Media Corporation Limited, emphasized the power of storytelling through various mediums and invited viewers and readers to actively participate in the call for river conservation and cultural preservation.
Mona Jain, CRO of Zee Media Corporation Ltd, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the festival’s role in uniting people through music while deepening connections with cultural roots and committing to sacred river conservation.
Havas Play, instrumental in seamlessly blending cultural immersion and entertainment, plans to leverage digital and social media platforms to amplify the festival’s outreach. Collaborations with headline artists will entail exclusive content creation and behind-the-scenes access, expanding the festival’s global footprint.
R. Venkatasubramanian, Managing Director of Havas Play, emphasized the festival’s intention to evolve into a global celebration deeply rooted in India’s history, fostering an enduring connection with audiences worldwide.
At its essence, the ‘Ganga Kinare Music Festival’ endeavors to forge a profound link between the younger generation and the sacred Ganga, intertwining music and cultural heritage to illuminate the path toward river preservation.
