ZEE Keralam has appointed media and marketing professional Anand Shankar as its new Head of Marketing, strengthening the channel’s leadership team as it continues to expand its presence in the competitive Malayalam entertainment market.
In his new role, Shankar will lead the marketing function for the Malayalam general entertainment channel, focusing on audience growth, localized brand campaigns, and enhancing ZEE Keralam’s position among viewers across Kerala. His appointment comes as broadcasters increasingly focus on regional content and consumer engagement to drive viewership and brand loyalty.
Shankar joins ZEE Keralam from Balaji Telefilms, where he served as Sales Lead for the South and East regions. During his tenure, he was involved in driving business growth and strengthening partnerships across key regional markets.
With more than 13 years of experience in the media and entertainment industry, Shankar brings expertise across multiple sectors, including television, OTT streaming, radio, digital media, and experiential marketing. His diverse background is expected to support ZEE Keralam’s efforts to deepen audience engagement and strengthen its marketing initiatives.
Before joining Balaji Telefilms, Shankar spent over three years with Arha Media, the parent company of Telugu streaming platform aha. There, he worked on market expansion initiatives and digital monetization strategies, contributing to the platform’s growth in the rapidly evolving OTT landscape.
His professional journey also includes leadership roles at The Muthoot Group, where he managed media portfolios and consumer engagement activities, as well as a stint with Radio Mirchi, where he gained experience in entertainment marketing and audience outreach.
Industry observers view the appointment as part of ZEE Keralam’s continued focus on building a strong regional brand identity and connecting more closely with Malayalam-speaking audiences through innovative marketing strategies and localized content promotion.
With Shankar now at the helm of its marketing operations, ZEE Keralam is expected to further sharpen its audience-focused approach while strengthening its footprint in Kerala’s highly competitive television entertainment sector.
