Zee Cinema is set to premiere the highly anticipated film ‘Mission Raniganj’ on May 23.
The movie, starring Akshay Kumar, is based on the real-life rescue mission of 1989, paying homage to the late Jaswant Singh Gill, who saved the lives of 65 miners trapped in a flooded coal mine.
Kumar, portraying the role of Gill, brings to life the hero’s unwavering determination and courage in rescuing the miners using a specially crafted rescue capsule.
The film delves into one of India’s greatest rescue missions, capturing the essence of hope and the resilience of the human spirit when faced with life-threatening situations.
The recent Uttarakhand tunnel incident of 2023, where 41 construction workers were trapped for 17 days, echoes the bravery and determination showcased in ‘Mission Raniganj’.
Led by Australian rescue expert Arnold Dix, a team of rat-hole miners broke through debris to save the workers, mirroring the heroics of Jaswant Gill.
