Zee Media Corporation Limited (ZMCL) has announced the launch of GenZ Bharat, a rebranded version of its Zee Bharat platform, signalling a clear shift towards a digital-first, youth-focused content strategy.
The move marks the transformation of Zee Bharat from a traditional news identity into a social-first, digital-native platform designed specifically for India’s Gen Z audience. With this transition, the network aims to align itself with evolving consumption patterns, where younger audiences increasingly prefer interactive and platform-driven content.
GenZ Bharat is positioned as a brand that speaks the language of modern Indian youth, focusing on content that is real, relatable, and relevant. The platform is being built to thrive across social media ecosystems, where Gen Z users are most active, with an emphasis on storytelling that encourages participation and engagement rather than passive consumption.
Raktim Das, CEO of Zee Media Corp Ltd, in a LinkedIn post, highlighted the intent behind the initiative, stating that Gen Z today does not just consume content but actively questions, creates, and shapes narratives. He noted that despite this, their voices have often remained fragmented and underrepresented in mainstream media, adding that GenZ Bharat aims to bridge this gap.
As part of its expansion roadmap, the company plans to introduce a dedicated 24/7 live stream, offering continuous, always-on content tailored to fast-paced digital consumption habits. This will further strengthen the platform’s positioning as a dynamic, real-time content hub for young audiences.
With the tagline “Your Feed Just Got Smarter,” GenZ Bharat reflects ZMCL’s broader strategy to future-proof its media presence by moving beyond linear formats and embracing digital ecosystems. The initiative underscores the company’s focus on building a stronger connect with the next generation of viewers while redefining how news and content are consumed in a rapidly evolving media landscape.
