Fresh from a historic on-field high and a formal meeting with the Prime Minister, India’s women’s cricket team shifted gears from protocol to pure entertainment as they appeared on Netflix’s The ‘Great Indian Kapil Show S4’, bringing with them equal parts pride, humour and unfiltered camaraderie.
From roaring stadiums to roaring laughter, the Women in Blue settled into Kapil Sharma’s iconic couch to celebrate their recent triumph, reflect on life beyond cricket and, in true Kapil style, indulge in playful banter that had the studio buzzing. What followed was a rare, relaxed glimpse of the champions away from the pitch, as they spoke about bowling styles, dressing-room dynamics and even casually spilled some tea on dating choices.
Team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, along with Richa Ghosh, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Renuka Singh, Harleen Deol, Radha Yadav and Pratika Rawal, were joined by head coach Amol Mazumdar. Trading their jerseys for party wear just for the evening, the team brought their winning energy to the comedy stage without missing a beat.
Kapil Sharma played the proud big brother, showering praise on Harmanpreet’s much-talked-about bhangra moves during the trophy celebrations, before slipping into matchmaker mode. His playful grilling of Renuka Singh about her “ideal boy” drew loud laughs, while Shafali and the rest of the squad proved that their charm and fan following extend well beyond cricket grounds.
The episode upped the tempo when Sunil Grover and Krushna Abhishek entered as Karan and Arjun, joined by Kiku Sharda as Filmy Maa. Their antics pushed the show into full slog-overs mode, with rapid-fire jokes, exaggerated drama and boundary-level laughter as the cricketers joined in the fun with effortless ease.
With no run-rate pressure and plenty of comic highs, the episode turns into a celebration of victory, personality and team spirit. Catch this special winning innings on ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ S4, streaming on Netflix on December 27 at 8pm.
