The India Today Group seems to be on an expansion mode. Having recently made some high profile journalistic appointments, the group is now looking at starting a new TV channel.
The new product is likely to be called Good News Today, according to information available with Indianbroadcastingworld.com, though other details are sketchy. Industry sources said that the new channel launch may happen soon.
It is also learnt that TV Today Network has got regulatory clearances for the new product, but in a competitive market, it’s still an uphill task to get adequate number of eyeballs.

It’s also not clear the type of content Good News Today would carry or who would head it or whether it’d be a linear TV channel or be a pure play digital offering.
But ITG is definitely hiring. An advertisement that’s doing the rounds of journalistic circles clearly states that a new channel is being launched.
The company has advertised for candidates for several posts, including bilingual reporters, copy editors, producers for the copy desk and assignments, anchors and camerapersons, amongst a host of other openings.
According to the company’s website, TV Today Network Limited was incorporated on December 28, 1999 as a company with a limited liability under the Companies Act, 1956. TVTN received the certificate of commencement of business on February 7, 2000 and is promoted by Living Media India Limited (LMIL), its holding company.
Presently, TVTN runs four 24 hours news and current affairs channels including Aaj Tak, Aaj Tak HD and Tez in Hindi and India Today in English. The company also operates three radio stations under brand ISHQ 104.8 FM in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata.
TVTN is listed on National Stock Exchange of India Limited and the BSE Limited.
