WhatsApp has introduced a fresh set of features ahead of the holiday season, aiming to make communication smoother and more expressive as users connect with friends and family.
The update brings enhancements across calling, messaging, Meta AI integration, Status, Channels, and even WhatsApp for desktop, marking one of the platform’s most wide-ranging upgrades in recent months.
The holiday release focuses on simplifying interactions during a period when users typically juggle busy schedules and increased communication. One of the key additions is the ability to send voice or video messages instantly when a call is missed, effectively modernising the idea of voicemail for the app’s global base.
Group video calls have also been refined, with WhatsApp now automatically prioritising the active speaker on screen to help users follow conversations more easily. Voice chats, meanwhile, now support reactions, allowing participants to respond naturally without interrupting the flow.
Another highlight of the update is the upgraded Meta AI experience on WhatsApp. With enhanced image generation powered by Midjourney and Flux, users can now create richer, more personalised visuals—from holiday greetings to animated photos that transform into short videos.
