ZEE5 has elevated Viraj Chavan to the position of Vice President, marking another milestone in his six-year journey with the Zee Entertainment-owned streaming platform.
Chavan, who joined ZEE5 in December 2019 as Associate Director – Content Acquisition, has steadily risen through the ranks. He was promoted to Director in July 2023 and served in that role for nearly three years before being elevated to Vice President in April 2026.
In his new position, Chavan is expected to play a key role in shaping content acquisition strategies, strengthening industry partnerships and supporting the platform’s growth ambitions in India’s increasingly competitive OTT market.
Sharing the news of his promotion, Chavan said he looks forward to building meaningful partnerships, driving impactful content strategies and contributing to the next phase of growth for ZEE5.
Before joining ZEE5, Chavan was associated with MX Player, where he served as Deputy General Manager – Content Acquisition and Licensing for around one and a half years. Prior to that, he spent nearly three years with Sri Adhikari Brothers Group, leading consumer insights and digital business initiatives across the SAB Group and its digital platform Happii Fi.
Earlier in his career, Chavan worked with TAM Media Research as Associate Manager in the Strategy Group, where he was involved in client hypothesis-building, business development and audience analytics. He also held positions at Intelenet Global Services and completed a summer internship with Reliance Communications.
With nearly 17 years of professional experience spanning content acquisition, media strategy, consumer insights and digital business, Chavan’s elevation comes at a time when streaming platforms are increasingly focusing on content differentiation and strategic partnerships to drive subscriber growth and engagement.
His promotion underscores ZEE5’s emphasis on nurturing internal talent and strengthening its leadership team as the platform continues to expand its content offerings across languages and markets.
