Vikram Vijay Chandan has joined Gambig Inc as Chief Revenue and Sales Officer, marking a notable leadership move in India’s fast-growing sports and athleisure market.
The development, seen as more than a routine leadership transition, reflects a broader shift of senior talent from mainstream media into the sports and athleisure ecosystem. Chandan’s move comes after a stint as Vice President at Sony Pictures Networks India, where he played a key role in shaping sports broadcasting strategies.
With a career spanning organisations like ESPN Star Sports, Chandan brings deep domain expertise in sports media and audience engagement. Beyond his corporate roles, he is also known as the author of Love Life and Cricket, a TEDx speaker, and the voice behind “Yorker with Vikram,” a growing digital sports community.
His appointment comes at a time when Gambig Inc is scaling its presence in the mass-premium segment of sports equipment and athleisure—a category witnessing strong demand in India. The company has been steadily building its ecosystem, backed by partnerships with teams like the Rajasthan Royals and its role as an OEM partner for SG. With a footprint across more than 15 countries, the brand is now entering an aggressive growth phase.
Commenting on the appointment, Salil Gupta, promoter of Gambig Inc, described the move as a pivotal step in the company’s journey, emphasising that Chandan’s leadership would help accelerate its ambition of becoming a globally recognised brand.
Industry observers view this development as part of a larger evolution within India’s sports economy, where the convergence of content, commerce, and community is opening new growth avenues. As Gambig Inc targets fivefold growth and aims to enter the top three athleisure brands in the country, Chandan’s entry signals a sharper focus on scale, market expansion, and brand building.
The move underscores how the lines between sports media and sports commerce are increasingly blurring, with experienced professionals now playing a key role in shaping the next phase of India’s sports and lifestyle market.
