Story TV has released ‘Scam 2024 – The Digital Arrest Story’, a new microdrama starring Vidya Malavade, Pratik Sehajpal and Vineet Raina. Produced by Small Town Boys and directed by Alok Sharma, the thriller is now streaming exclusively on the Story TV app.

According to a Story TV press release, Vidya Malavade makes her debut in the microdrama format as Priya Sharma, a working professional who falls victim to a digital arrest scam. The story follows her as she discovers a wider network of fraudsters who use fake identities, fear and intimidation to target unsuspecting people.

Speaking about her role, Vidya said Priya’s story highlights how even educated and careful people can become victims of such scams. She added that she was drawn to the microdrama format because the stories reach audiences directly on their phones, where such fraud attempts can also take place.

Pratik Sehajpal, the runner-up of ‘Bigg Boss 15’, plays Vicky Mandal, the man behind the scam network. He said preparing for the role helped him understand how organised such criminal operations can be. Vineet Raina plays Raj Thakur, a suspended officer who joins the fight against the network. Vineet said he was drawn to the story because it combines entertainment with public awareness.

The series also features Sandeep Aurora as Anand, along with Priyanshi Tripathi, Puja Jha, Ayushi Tyagi, Shital Tejwani, Ashok K Jha and Yogesh Pawar.

The microdrama highlights warning signs of digital arrest scams, including fraudsters impersonating government or law enforcement officials, using fake documents and pressuring victims into following their instructions.

According to figures cited at a government-organised cyber-safety workshop, India recorded Rs 22,495 crore in reported cyber fraud losses in 2025, with 28.15 lakh complaints.
