Veteran music composer Vijay Patil, also known as Raam Laxman, has passed away. The news was shared by Lata Mangeshkar on Twitter. He was suffering from an illness. He was 79.
Raam Laxman was known for composing the music for superhit films like Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hai Koun, Hum Saath Saath Hain, and many others. He composed music for more than 150 films in Hindi, Marathi, and Bhojpuri languages.
Born on September 16, 1942, at Nagpur, Patil had taken his fledgling lessons in music from his father and uncle. He later studied music at the Bhatkhande Shikshan Sanstha.

Lata Mangeshkar expressed her condolences on the demise of Raam Laxman and shared on Twitter, “I just learned that the extremely talented and popular music composer Raam Laxman Ji (Vijay Patil) has passed away. I am very sorry to hear this. He was a great man. I sang many of his songs which got very popular. I pay him my respects.”
Mangeshkar gave her voice to popular songs composed by Raam Laxman like, “Maaye Ni Maaye”, “Didi Tera Dewar Deewana”, “Kabootar Ja Ja Ja”among many others.
Vijay Patil, became “Laxman” of the composer duo ‘Raam Laxman’. Even after the death of his partner Ram, he continued to compose music under the same name.
