TV9 Bangla brought together students, parents, educators and institutions for what it described as India’s Biggest Education Expo, while also celebrating academic excellence through the fifth edition of the Uttaran Academic Excellence Honour in Kolkata.

The initiative aimed to provide students with a comprehensive platform to explore higher education opportunities, emerging career paths and skill-oriented programmes at a time when many are making crucial decisions following their board examination results. According to a press release, the expo featured leading educational institutions from across the region, offering guidance on a wide range of academic disciplines and professional courses.

The event was inaugurated by Agnimitra Paul, alongside K. Vikram, COO – National & International, TV9 Network; Amritanshu Bhattacharya, Managing Editor and Business Head, TV9 Bangla; Ashish Beriwala, Director of SRMB Srijan; and Shiva Kumar, Assistant Director of KL University.

Designed as a one-stop destination for aspiring students, the expo showcased educational opportunities aligned with evolving industry requirements and the changing job market. Participants were able to interact directly with representatives from universities and institutions, gaining insights into academic programmes, career prospects and future-ready skill development.

A major highlight of the event was the presentation of the fifth edition of the Uttaran Academic Excellence Honour, an initiative that recognises meritorious students from backward and tribal communities who have excelled academically despite facing socio-economic challenges.

Students including Labani Mondal, Adrija Gan, Manimala Besra, Sagar Mondal and Alia Paul were among those felicitated for their academic achievements. The programme also recognised educational institutions that have demonstrated excellence in teaching, innovation, student development and social impact.

The awards ceremony was attended by Sukanta Majumdar and Shankar Ghosh, along with several other dignitaries from the education sector.

Speaking on the occasion, K. Vikram said the Uttaran Academic Excellence Honour was conceived as a platform to acknowledge institutions that have made outstanding contributions to academic excellence and societal progress. He noted that educational institutions play a crucial role in driving change and development, adding that quality education remains one of the strongest pillars of a prosperous society.

He further stated that through the initiative, TV9 Bangla aims to highlight stories of commitment, perseverance, innovation and leadership that deserve wider recognition and appreciation.

Several institutions were honoured during the ceremony, including Adamas University, Brainware University, JIS University, Sister Nivedita University, University of Engineering & Management and several other academic institutions recognised for their contribution to education and student empowerment.

The Uttaran Academic Excellence Honour ceremony will be telecast on TV9 Bangla on July 2 at 11.25 am and will also be available on the channel’s YouTube platform.

With the dual focus on career guidance and academic recognition, the event reinforced TV9 Bangla’s commitment to supporting educational advancement while celebrating students and institutions that continue to make a meaningful impact in society.
