&TV is set to add a fresh flavour to its fiction lineup with the launch of its new show ‘Gharwali Pedwali’, a family comedy that blends slice-of-life humour with a quirky supernatural twist. Produced by Peninsula Productions, the show will premiere on December 15 at 10 pm and will air every Monday to Friday.
The series features Paras Arora as Jeetu Pandey, Seerat Kapoor as Savi, the ‘Gharwali’, and Priyamvada Kant as Latika, the ‘Pedwali’, along with a strong supporting cast including Richa Soni, Geeta Bisht, Harsh Vashisht, Brij Bhushan Shukla and Amitabh Ghanekar in pivotal roles.
‘Gharwali Pedwali’ has been conceptualised as a wholesome family entertainer that combines everyday emotions with magical unpredictability. Set in the culturally rich city of Varanasi, the show introduces viewers to Jeetu, a man whose life has always been defined by unexpected dualities — from having two mothers and two fathers to now dealing with destiny’s strangest twist: two wives.
The story takes an amusing turn when Jeetu’s simple dream of a happy married life with his real wife, Savi, is disrupted by an astrological complication that leads to a symbolic marriage with a tree. What seems like a harmless ritual soon spirals into chaos when Latika, a spirited ghost from another era, enters his life believing herself to be his rightful bride. As Jeetu finds himself caught between his practical, modern ‘Gharwali’ and his playful, old-world ‘Pedwali’, the result is a hilarious tug-of-war filled with comedy, emotion and constant confusion.
Speaking about the show, Kaveri Das, Chief Channel Officer, &TV and Business Head – Hindi, Z5, said the channel continues to focus on concepts that surprise and emotionally connect with audiences. She described Gharwali Pedwali as a refreshing take on family comedy, a genre loved across Indian households, but rarely explored with such imaginative storytelling. The contrast between a contemporary young wife and a ghost bride, she said, opens up endless possibilities for humour while staying rooted in everyday family emotions.
The makers at Peninsula Productions said the novelty of the concept and its ability to deliver clean, joyful entertainment with emotional depth drew them to the project. They added that the supernatural element is not just a gimmick, but a narrative tool that enhances humour, conflict and relatability, creating a world that feels both fresh and heartfelt.
Paras Arora, who plays Jeetu, said the character is deeply relatable, someone who longs for a simple life but constantly lands in complicated situations. He described balancing two wives — one real and one supernatural — as creatively challenging and rewarding, adding that the humour in the show is strongly rooted in emotion.
Priyamvada Kant, who essays the role of Latika, said returning to television with such a unique character was exciting. She described Latika as dramatic, affectionate and mischievous, and noted that supernatural comedy remains a largely unexplored genre on Indian television. Seerat Kapoor, who plays Savi, said her character’s modern outlook and emotional strength add depth to the story, especially as she navigates the chaos of discovering her husband’s unusual second marriage.
With its endearing characters, light-hearted storytelling and a seamless blend of realism and fantasy, ‘Gharwali Pedwali’ promises to offer viewers a warm, laughter-filled family drama.
‘Gharwali Pedwali’ will premiere on December 15 at 10 pm and will air every Monday to Friday, only on &TV.
