In a groundbreaking move, major players in the global kids and family entertainment industry, Toonz Media Group, and Miami-based media conglomerate, Cisneros Media, have officially inked a significant co-production and co-distribution deal.
The collaboration is set to bring to life the enchanting animated series, Nerlies: Space Babies, inspired by the best-selling toys from the renowned Mexican toy giant, Distroller.
The strategic partnership aims to leverage the creative strengths of both companies to deliver compelling content, supported by an extensive licensing and merchandising strategy, the company said in a press statement.
The focus of the deal will be on the co-production and global distribution of the CGI animated series, consisting of 52 episodes, each running for 11 minutes. The project will be preceded by a comprehensive global digital content strategy.
Nerlies: Space Babies revolves around the adventures of Ampi, a quirky yet shy 7-year-old girl, who finds herself responsible for the care and feeding of three mischievous space babies. As Ampi navigates the challenges, the whimsical antics of the space babies gradually empower her to embrace her uniqueness.
Certified as a European Union production, Cisneros Media Distribution will exclusively handle media content distribution rights in LATAM and North America, while Toonz will oversee distribution rights for the rest of the world. The plans include a global-scale licensing and merchandising initiative for the project.
P Jayakumar, Chief Executive Officer of Toonz Media Group, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “We are thrilled to partner with Cisneros Media for this promising IP. We are confident that the combination of a global digital strategy and an animated series will lead to the success of this venture. Our shared goal is to create enduring franchises that inspire and uplift children.”
Jonathan Blum, President of Cisneros Media, shared his excitement for the partnership, saying, “We are ecstatic to embark on this new journey alongside Toonz. Leveraging our extensive experience in the preschool content space with Toonz’s innovative vision and track record, we aim to build a remarkable global franchise.”
The co-production is scheduled for release in 2026, promising a captivating and enriching experience for young audiences around the world. Stay tuned for updates on this promising collaboration that is set to redefine the landscape of children’s entertainment.
