Hollywood stars Tom Cruise and Anne Hathaway are set to star in Paramount Pictures’ upcoming sequel ‘Days of Thunder 2’, which is scheduled to release in theatres in 2028.

According to an ANI report from Washington,Tom Cruise will return as Cole Trickle, the NASCAR driver he played in the original ‘Days of Thunder’, which was released in 1990. The new film will bring back the racing story nearly four decades after the first movie.

Anne Hathaway has joined the cast and will reportedly play a race team owner and engineer. Her character will be connected to the racing world and will be part of the new story alongside Cruise’s Cole Trickle.

The sequel will be directed by Jonathan Levine, while Will Staples has written the screenplay. Tom Cruise will also produce the film with Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper.

Paramount Pictures is planning a major theatrical release for the film. ‘Days of Thunder 2’ is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on June 2, 2028, with screenings planned in premium formats including IMAX, Dolby Cinema and 4DX.

The original ‘Days of Thunder’ was directed by Tony Scott and starred Tom Cruise as Cole Trickle, a talented but ambitious NASCAR driver. The film explored the high-pressure world of professional racing and became known for its action-packed racing sequences.

With Tom Cruise returning to his original role and Anne Hathaway joining the cast, ‘Days of Thunder 2’ is expected to bring the racing franchise to a new generation of audiences.
