‘The Toxic Avenger’ has officially premiered digitally in India and is now available on PVOD (premium video-on-demand) across Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and YouTube at a rental price of Rs.499.
The horror-comedy reboot brings a fresh twist to the beloved 1984 cult classic, blending absurd humour, grotesque action, and an unexpected dose of heart.
Starring Peter Dinklage in the lead role, the film follows Winston Gooze, a mild-mannered janitor whose life takes a shocking turn after a toxic accident transforms him into the unlikely hero, ‘The Toxic Avenger’. What follows is a chaotic yet heartfelt journey as Toxie rises from being an outcast to a saviour, battling ruthless corporate villains and corrupt forces threatening his loved ones and community.
The movie features a powerful ensemble, including Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood, Jacob Tremblay and Taylour Paige, each bringing a quirky energy to the narrative. Directed and written by Macon Blair, along with original creators Lloyd Kaufman and Joe Ritter, the film revisits the cult universe with a modern, satirical edge that resonates with both long-time fans and new audiences.
The film was previously screened at the Edinburgh Film Festival earlier this year and has already made waves across international markets with its limited theatrical release.
