The much-anticipated teaser of filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s upcoming film ‘The Bengal Files: Right to Life’ has been officially unveiled, offering a first look at the final chapter of his politically charged and widely debated ‘Files Trilogy’.
As per UNI, Agnihotri who previously directed ‘The Tashkent Files’ and the critically acclaimed ‘The Kashmir Files’ returns with yet another bold narrative rooted in Indian political history. With ‘The Bengal Files’, he dives deep into one of the most harrowing and underrepresented chapters of India’s pre-Independence past: the communal violence that tore through Bengal in the 1940s.
Originally titled ‘The Delhi Files’, the film has undergone a significant creative pivot to focus on this specific and sensitive period, reflecting Agnihotri’s evolving vision and continued commitment to historical truth-telling through cinema.
Presented and directed by Agnihotri himself, the film is jointly produced by Abhishek Agarwal and National Award-winning actress Pallavi Joshi. It brings together a powerhouse ensemble cast including Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, and Darshan Kumar—actors who have previously collaborated with Agnihotri and brought gravitas to his politically resonant storytelling.
Produced under the banner of I Am Buddha Productions and presented by Tej Narayan Agarwal, ‘The Bengal Files’ aims to revisit a dark and painful era while igniting crucial questions about identity, rights, and the long shadows of India’s communal past. The teaser hints at emotionally intense sequences, powerful performances, and a storyline designed to challenge perspectives and fuel public discourse—hallmarks of Agnihotri’s filmmaking style.
The film is set for a nationwide theatrical release on September 5, and with the teaser now live, anticipation has begun to build among audiences, especially those who have followed Agnihotri’s earlier projects that stirred both acclaim and debate across the country.
