Indian actor Siddharth has signed on to play a leading role opposite Freida Pinto in Netflix’s upcoming series ‘Unaccustomed Earth’. Adapted from Jhumpa Lahiri’s acclaimed short story collection, the eight-episode family drama explores complicated relationships, love, desire, and belonging within an Indian-American community in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
According to PTI, Siddharth will portray Amit Mukherjee, a warm-hearted Bengali American who is Parul Chaudhury’s (Pinto) long-lost love. The character is described as emotionally open, reliable in crisis, but grappling with instability in both love and work. His world is poised to unravel when his past resurfaces and redefines his relationships and sense of belonging.
‘Unaccustomed Earth’ brings together a powerhouse team. Freida Pinto plays Parul Chaudhury, while the series is created by John Wells and Madhuri Shekar, with Ritesh Batra directing the first two episodes. Among the executive producers are Jhumpa Lahiri herself, Nisha Ganatra, Erica Saleh, Erin Jontow, and Celia Costas.
Filming began in August 2025 and is expected to run through the end of the year. While a release date has not yet been confirmed, the series is highly anticipated due to its strong literary roots, ensemble cast, and culturally rich themes.
