Streaming platform ShemarooMe is strengthening its push into regional originals with the launch of ‘Kajodu’, a Gujarati romantic thriller starring Mitra Gadhvi and Esha Kansara. The series is scheduled to premiere on May 14, 2026.
According to a press release, ‘Kajodu’ marks the first Gujarati original series under the Shemaroo Premiere banner and reflects the platform’s continued investment in culturally rooted and genre-diverse storytelling as regional streaming consumption continues to grow.
Directed by Vishal Vada Vala, the series follows the story of Bhavesh, whose search for an ideal life partner takes an unexpected turn when mystery and suspense begin to unfold around his relationship. Blending romance with thriller elements, the show aims to tap into audiences’ growing preference for binge-worthy regional content with layered narratives.
Over the past few years, ShemarooMe has steadily expanded its Gujarati entertainment portfolio across films, originals, and curated digital content. With regional audiences increasingly engaging with locally rooted stories presented in contemporary formats, Gujarati content has emerged as an important growth segment for the platform.
Commenting on the launch, Saurabh Srivastava said the platform’s strategy is focused on strengthening the regional entertainment ecosystem through differentiated storytelling formats that create deeper audience engagement. He added that ‘Kajodu’ not only expands ShemarooMe’s Gujarati originals slate but also explores genre innovation through the romantic thriller space, which has shown strong audience retention potential across streaming platforms.
Srivastava also highlighted that the collaboration with popular Gujarati creative talents including Mitra Gadhvi, Esha Kansara, and Vishal Vada Vala adds further strength to the project as the platform continues building long-term subscriber engagement through original regional content.
