Shemaroo TV is bringing a fresh perspective to Diwali celebrations with ‘Shemaroo Deepotsav – Har Utsav Ki Kahani’, a four-part festive special exploring the lesser-known stories behind some of India’s most widely celebrated traditions.
The series will focus on the significance and beliefs associated with Dhanteras, Diwali, Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj.
The new format blends mythology, tradition and the values that shape Indian celebrations. Rather than retelling familiar narratives, the programme explores the why and how behind festivals and rituals, aiming to make cultural knowledge more relevant to younger generations and encourage conversations within families.
With a legacy spanning decades across India’s entertainment value chain, Shemaroo Entertainment has maintained a strong association with devotional and culturally rooted content. Its presence in the Bhakti space on YouTube and Shemaroo TV’s focus on timeless cultural values have been reinforced through iconic mythological narratives such as B.R. Chopra’s ‘Mahabharat’, Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ramayan’ and ‘Shri Krishna’.
Further strengthening this approach, ‘Shemaroo Deepotsav – Har Utsav Ki Kahani’ takes viewers through the stories and beliefs behind the four festivals. The Dhanteras episode explores the story of Bhagwan Dhanvantari and the significance of Yam Deepdaan. The Diwali special looks at Shri Ram’s return to Ayodhya and the importance of Lakshmi-Ganesh Puja, while the Govardhan Puja episode revisits Krishna’s lesson on faith over ego. The final episode explores the story of Yamraj and Yamuna associated with Bhai Dooj.
Actor Ragini Chaubey, popularly known for portraying Goddess Lakshmi in ‘Devon Ke Dev Mahadev’, will anchor the series. She will introduce the context of each festival, narrate the associated mythology and conclude with a takeaway for families today.
Commenting on the initiative, Sandeep Gupta, COO – Broadcasting Business, Shemaroo Entertainment, said, “Audience viewing habits keep evolving, and we want to meet them with fresh takes on familiar genres. With this special presentation, we intend to present lesser-known narratives in mythology, making it more engaging for young viewers while preserving its deep-rooted cultural context. Shemaroo Deepotsav is a step in this direction, as we continue to evolve our content approach to connect with today’s generation while keeping our cultural heritage alive.”
‘Shemaroo Deepotsav – Har Utsav Ki Kahani’ will air on Shemaroo TV on November 6, 8, 10 and 11, 2026, at 9 pm. All four episodes will also be available on Shemaroo’s YouTube channel.
