Filmmaker Sandhya Suri’s much-anticipated police procedural thriller ‘Santosh’, which faced hurdles with the censor board and missed its theatrical release earlier this year, is set to make its digital debut on Lionsgate Play on October 17.
According to a PTI report, the Indo-British production features Shahana Goswami in the titular role, alongside Sunita Rajwar, widely known for her work in ‘Panchayat’. Santosh had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival 2024 in the Un Certain Regard category, earning critical acclaim for its fearless depiction of caste, gender, and power dynamics in contemporary society.
The film had generated buzz internationally after being chosen as the United Kingdom’s official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2025 Oscars, highlighting its global relevance and artistic merit. With its digital release, audiences across India will now have the opportunity to engage with a story that explores law, justice, and social complexities through a compelling, nuanced lens.
‘Santosh’ represents a significant milestone for Indian cinema on the global stage, combining sharp storytelling with strong performances and cinematic finesse. The Lionsgate Play premiere promises to bring the thriller directly to viewers, bypassing traditional theatrical constraints and offering an unfiltered experience of Suri’s acclaimed vision.
