Bollywood’s megastar Salman Khan is all set to step into the boots of an Indian Army soldier in the upcoming film ‘Battle of Galwan’, directed by Apoorva Lakhia.
The actor took to his social media on Friday evening to share the film’s intense motion poster, offering fans their first glimpse of what promises to be a powerful, patriotic drama inspired by real events.
As per a ANI report, the film is based on the fierce Galwan Valley clashes that occurred between Indian and Chinese troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh in 2020. The confrontation claimed the lives of 20 Indian soldiers on June 16 that year and led to a surge in military tensions, prompting India to deploy additional forces and step up border surveillance. The clash, regarded as one of the most serious face-offs between the two nations in decades, saw both sides suffer casualties and later engage in multiple rounds of disengagement talks to stabilise the region.
The motion poster released by Salman showcases him with bloodstains on his face, a piercing expression in his eyes, and the Indian Army uniform commanding the frame. The actor shared the poster on Instagram with the caption, “#GalwanValley”, confirming the project that had been speculated ever since a cryptic image of the poster appeared in one of his earlier social media uploads.
“Mehnat karo sahi disha mein. Unhi par woh meherbaan, aur banayega unhi ko unke hunar ka pehelwan,” Salman wrote alongside the earlier teaser image. (“Work hard in the right direction. He will be kind to them and will make them a wrestler of their skill.”)
Though specific details around the plot, supporting cast, and release timeline are still under wraps, the film is already creating considerable buzz. Salman’s association with a story as emotionally resonant and nationally significant as Battle of Galwan has elevated expectations, with fans and cinephiles eager to witness how the narrative honours the bravery of India’s soldiers.
The project marks Salman Khan’s return to a uniformed role after a long gap, and with Apoorva Lakhia at the helm—known for his gritty storytelling in films like ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’- ‘Battle of Galwan’ is expected to strike a chord with audiences through a blend of action, emotion, and patriotism.
