Even as Shah Rukh Khan’s third film of 2023 has easily crossed Rs. 300 crore collection mark globally in its first three days, Prabhas-starrer ‘Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire’ is way ahead and is nearing Rs. 300 crore (Rs. 3 billion) crore globally in two days of its release, data released on Sunday indicated.
‘Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire’ is directed by Prashanth Neel of ‘KGF’ films fame and produced by Hombale Films. It also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran. The makers shared the latest box office collection (gross) on the official X page of Salaar.
“The Hunting Season Begins… #SalaarCeaseFire dominates the global-box office, crossing Rs 295.7 crores (GBOC) (worldwide) in 2 Days,” the post read, according to a PTI report yesterday.
The first part of the epic action saga raised Rs 178.7 crore registering the record for the best opening day figures for any Indian title in 2023, according to Hombale Films.
Set in the fictional city of Khansaar, ‘Salaar: Part 1’ revolves around two friends Deva (Prabhas) and Vardha (Prithviraj). The film was released in theatres on Friday in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi.
The opening day figure of the film also surpassed Shah Rukh Khan’s two blockbuster movies of 2023 — ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’, which had earned Rs 106 crore and Rs 129.6 crore in worldwide gross on their opening days, respectively and the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer ‘Animal’that amassed Rs 116 crore on the first day.
‘Dunki’ Progresses Despite Tepid Reviews: Meanwhile, ‘Dunki’, the comedy drama headlined by Shah Rukh Khan, has raised Rs 157.22 crore at the global box office, the makers yesterday said.
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film opened to tepid reviews upon its worldwide release on Thursday. It also stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, Vikram Kochhar and Anil Grover.
Red Chillies Entertainment, one of the production houses behind ‘Dunki’, shared the box office update on its official X page.
“The love for Dunki grows more and more each day and we’re so grateful!” the banner captioned the post, which also stated that the film had grossed Rs 157.22 crore in worldwide box office collections.
The film is presented by JIO Studios, Red Chillies Entertainment and Rajkumar Hirani Films. The comedy drama, based on an illegal immigration technique ‘donkey flight’, is written by Hirani, Abhijaat Joshi and Kanika Dhillon.
