One of Bollywood’s most beloved romantic comedies, ‘Hum Tum’, starring Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji, is all set to charm audiences once again as it gears up for a grand re-release in theatres on May 16, 2025.
Yash Raj Films made the announcement on Wednesday, reigniting nostalgia for fans who hold the film close to their hearts even two decades after its original release.
As reported by PTI, the re-release marks the 20th anniversary of the iconic film, which first hit the screens in 2004 and went on to become a massive critical and commercial success. Directed by Kunal Kohli, ‘Hum Tum’ not only introduced a refreshing take on love and relationships but also featured animated segments that were ahead of their time.
Saif’s portrayal of the witty cartoonist Karan and Rani’s spirited character Rhea became instant fan favourites, and the film’s music, especially tracks like ‘Ladki Kyon’ and the soulful title song ‘Hum Tum’, continues to resonate with listeners even today. The film earned Saif a National Film Award for Best Actor and was widely lauded for its smart storytelling and modern treatment of romantic conflict.
Over the years, ‘Hum Tum’ has remained a staple of the rom-com genre in Indian cinema. Its influence can be seen in many love stories that followed, and its success played a vital role in shaping Saif and Rani’s careers in the early 2000s.
